Sourcing a company in exchange for an internship... Possible?
So I'd like to present a hypothetical scenario to you guys, and I would appreciate any advice regarding this hypothetical scenario to maximize the (hypothetical) results.
So lets say someone has somehow connected with another person that has a pretty good company. Without getting into too many hypothetical details, lets say it's a franchise based business model, with about 8 franchisees, profit generating, fast growing (probably get to 12 by end of year), and that company is actively seeking an equity investment to grow to 20+ franchises, and then another round of financing following that to get further growth and/or an eventual exit. That plus the numbers indicate that there is a high probability that the company is going to be of interest to some group/small PE shops. Let’s say the owner of that company is very nice/too busy and decides to let this person go ahead and shop around for the best VC/PE group/individuals that may be interested in playing with this.
Opportunity for this person? Possibly...
Any suggestions/ways that this person can leverage this particular "opportunity" for an internship (maybe just working on that specific deal)? Would some VC/PE groups be open to taking a look at it, with the caveat that if they're interested in working on the deal, the person who sourced it gets to be a part of that project/intern for the due diligence portion/any work really (Read: adding the experience to the resume)? Any ideas how that person would best present/position that? Or is there no real opportunity with having a good company in need of an equity investment?
Not sure a VC is going to invest in a franchise business... sounds more like an opportunity that a small PE shop would look at.
Internship? Why not take a transaction fee? (sort of srs)
meph, I think you're right, thanks. Moved to PE forums. Question still remains about leveraging for internship/some experience in the space. I know some PE shops have a sourcing model.
DeepLearning, they all offer a finders fee. Since the forum is about breaking into various Wall Street roles, I think it's good to know if this can be leveraged into an internship.
