S&T or AM : Exit ops into buyside?
I want to either, ideally, end up on the buyside investment management/analyst type of role or sell side equity research.
I'm conflicted which path would best set me up for that, both seem really great. The only thing with S&T is they have a derivates, fx, and fixed income desk and from what I've read you're directly dealing with HFs and institutions executing orders. With AM you get to do both the sales and product side which seems very well rounded. I plan to get my CFA as well
For what it's worth, I'm already in the AM arm of the company so the switch into their institutional side is far more likely where as trying to lateral into their capital markets group for S&T could setup an ultimatum come full time offer time because it's a completely separate interview.
