Standard & Poor's Capital IQ

Hey WSO,

I have an interview on Wednesday with S&P Capital IQ Client Development Analyst Program full-time. I was just wondering if anyone has any first-hand experience working with this group or this firm. Is there any particular skill set they're looking for? Should I focus on more S&T type questions or straight-up finance questions? I'm working through the technical interview guide and it's been pretty helpful so far.

I appreciate it!

They won't ask you any technicals. At least, I wasn't asked any. I interviewed with them a while ago, not knowing what it was really about. When the lady asked me what other jobs I was interested in/interviewing for and I said "investment banking and private equity," she was like "ummm, okay, sooooo....." and the tone changed pretty quickly. I think they kinda understand that if your set on banking or similar, you wouldn't want this position.... For obvious reasons.

If you DO want this position, focus on interpersonal and communication skills, leadership qualities, and an aptitude for sales.

Hope this helps.

Lol, I just realized that this probably isn't too helpful since this applies to almost everything.

In more detail, what I mean is, they aren't going to ask you technicals or for examples demonstrating you can pull off 100 hr weeks. It will be more focused on campus involvement/ what type of person you are.

Lastly, I was interviewed by an HR lady, so take that for what its worth with regard to preparation.
