Star Wars Episode IX discussion

Dunno how many of you nerds, like me, have already seen Star Wars IX. My general thought is that you will like this movie in direct proportion to how much you disliked the previous movie, The Last Jedi. For that reason I really liked most of the major decisions in the movie and enjoyed watching the film. There were a couple moments at the end that I thought should have gone a different way, but because this is Disney I know in my heart they couldn't do it. I understand some of the negative reviews but I disagree with them; for me, this is the best Sequel Trilogy Film and my order right now is V, IV, VI, IX, III, VII, I, II, VIII

What are your thoughts on the movie if you've seen it? Are you interested at all in the franchise anymore going forward?

Yeah I get you. The biggest problem in my opinion was that the sequel trilogy had no over-arching plan. There was no Kevin Feige to steer the ship and as a result, the films directly contradicted each other and wasted a lot of time doing so. Very unfortunate.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

I only watched the TFA and I honestly cannot remember a single moment of the plot besides there was some bigger-than-Deathstar Planet Killer or whatever.

Series is trash. The prequels are very good. But honestly I don't bother watching 95% of whatever degenerate trash Hollywood puts out these days.

Also, the actress who plays Rey or Mary Sue is fugly. Maybe a 7/10 if we are talking San Francisco.

I completely agree with this post, wtf happened to movies the last 10 years? Not to sound like a total fucking boomer, but everything is a remake or gritty reboot these days. I'm getting more pleasure watching youtubers trash the SJWars than giving Disney my money.

They are a reflection of the society libs are trying to build, all about their new values of ''diversity, inclusion and equity'' (DIE). Soulless movies because libs have no souls.

In 2019, the best movie was probably Joker. Let's look at the story: underclass dude from a broken family, with mental health problems , living in a shitty neighbourhood, struggling to make it to the end of the month. At the end of the day, he would just like a father figure to appreciate his efforts, tell him he's doing a good job and maybe find a girlfriend.

Instead, he gets fired, his access to health care gets cut, he gets betrayed by coworkers and beaten up by a bunch of Wall Street idiots.

It has all the elements that someone allegedly concerned for the ''oppressed''would love.... and the liberal media hated it. They hated it for one reason only: Fleck is a straight white male.

disney fucked it up.

should have starred denzel washington and samuel jackson as sith lords, and bradd pit, tom hanks, and timothee chalamet as jedi knights.

can scrap the entire mandolorian show to pay for the high salaries of these actors.

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.

I loved it in comparison to The Last Jedi. I had goosebumps multiple times, I’m always surprised by how emotionally involved I am in Star Wars. That being said, the lesbian kiss at the end completely threw me out of the whole experience.

I fucking hated this movie, and episode 8, and I think episode 7 was entertaining but just a repetition of the same old plot as the og trilogy. Although Lucas’ original films and prequels weren’t perfect, the pacing and dialogue of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith was really good, and he excelled at world building. His creativity in envisioning all of the different worlds and species and cultures and the diversity of everything on screen is what made the films cult classics and nostalgia worthy and made Lucas Films IP worth $4B. These new films are incoherent sanitized PC garbage which don’t innovate or add anything. No matter how many gender fluid female black heroines you add, or how many special effects you add, it doesn’t make a shitty film with terrible dialogue pacing and an incoherent plot and no innovation become good. Disney raped Star Wars for profit, these new movies are just as shitty if not more than the umpteenth repetitive Marvel sequel. And I hated the lesbian kiss. Not because I’m homophobic, like I’d be okay with seeing Poe and Finn kiss, that’d be kinda hot and appropriate within the context of the film. Because Disney pretends like it’s diversity to have a second of no name characters lesbian kissing, which alienates both the viewers with traditional morals and the LGBTQ fruitcakes who say it’s just market tested BS (it is). I fucking hate that I don’t get my 2.5 hours of my life back from that shitty ass movie.

Don't forget: Disney allegedly censored the lesbo kiss to international audiences in the middle east and Asia.

George Lucas must be laughing at the deal he pulled with them. It will be interesting to see the case study of this affect on the most iconic IP in western entertainment over the next 5-10 years.

I mean the films have grossed like 8B since the acquisition, so Disney will get a good ROI for raping his IP, and Lucas has enough money to do whatever he wants, but apparently he is pissed off that they didn’t take any of his ideas for the sequel into account and instead made it suck

Impeach JJ Abrahams for raping Star Wars.

I mean, he brought back Palpatine. Really? Why? That's just saying: ''The original trilogy was completely useless'', which is also admitting that they have no idea of how to create new characters that people would care about (see Snoke).

I knew Disney would fuck this up anyway. Fuck them all.

I haven't seen it yet, but in the canon before the new trilogy, Palpatine had cloned himself so it might have had something to do with that, but Disney dgaf about canon so who knows.

I feel the sequels would have been much better by switching the roles of Han Solo and Princess Leia. Fisher really brought nothing, and years of hard drug use made her appear much older than late 50s/60 when she filmed her parts. Harrison Ford on the other hand can still command a scene while pushing 80 and is still spry.

Force Awakens was the best one. The Last Jedi had too much humor written into it. Rise of Skywalker was fine.
