Start Up VS BB
Guys,
I have an offer from a BB as a senior analyst. I have an offer from Start up PE FUND. I am very confused. Please NOTE:
BB:
Good Pay
International Rep
Permanent Position in Banking
Start UP Fund:
Founded by BB Bankers and PE Firms founder and are very powerful.
Paying lets say 100% more than BB
Excellent Leadership and Maangment.
HAve done amazing deals
Promotes faster and bigger bonuses than BB
Please help.. Ppl usually go to BB than to others.. am I being stupid here taking a START UP PE Fund offer.. even though MOney is real good and BB can offer that to me..
Please help me what to choose.. after all it comes to Money And REPutation..
What shold i do..? Thanks in advance?
Ummm - is this even a decision?
Take the Startup PE fund. Sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Is something wrong with your shift key?
On a separate note, how large is the PE fund? And what exactly do you mean by start-up - it sounds like they've already done several deals.
From what you say about the PE it sounds like a great opp. It is the more risky I would say however no risk, no reward...good luck!
hmmm...they aren't really startup if they've done amazing deals. If they're paying that much more, as well as having that good a deal-record than I'd lean towards it. Hard to say though without knowing the fund size and which fund it is specifically. Perhaps you should PM some of the more senior people here like Genghis or smuguy who are in-the-know about the industry.
Fund is about $3.8B and on the hand the firms is only 2 years old.. but the manamgent is from all BIG PE FIRMS and BB Banks.. The form also offers IB services and PE is there new GIG .. they firm already has ton of money raised in billions and have bog shot connections with the leading businessmen and wealthy families..
But no one knows the name of rhte firm.. so business school wil not recognize it.. on the other hand.. It has a solid future..
I am ore leaning toward cuz have money but.. BB u can never go wrong.. but im really confused .. again thanks in advance..
Risk vs. security. At the PE fund you have the chance to rise through the ranks faster andget alot of money, yet it couldalso go bust- unlike the BB. But if you think about it you canprobably get a BB job even if the PE firm goes bust. I personally think that the cahnce at thePE firm is better because you can always get a better job and this is a great oppurtunity.
The Start Up has IB, PE, Equity Research... but PE is their new venue.. since they have backage of many wealthy businessmen.
during my interview the CFO, MD, CEO and the team infomred me that I would have a chance to work in PE and Banking and reasearch...
So even if I leave the Bulge Bracket offer.. I would be able to get some IB and ofcourse PE expereince... form the start up...
the only draw back is the name is not recongized but the managment they have are world Class and from BB and TOp PE Firms..
Hope fully the name wont be an issue while applying to MBA since the same is not reconized..
I think the experience you get far outweighs any brand name recognition on a resume.
Wouldn't you obviously hire a superstar from a PE firm such as this, rather than someone that just "got by" at a BB?
