Starting career as a debt & equity broker- Hitting the ground running

Just graduated from school and starting my career in NY as a real estate capital markets broker, at a NYC I-sales/capital advisory firm. Going to be arranging debt and equity placements for real estate transactions. Any tips on how to hit the ground running? Anything involving networking, groups to join, or concepts/skills to try to learn immediately would be helpful.

I had a flair for languages. But I soon discovered that what talks best is dollars, dinars, drachmas, rubles, rupees and pounds fucking sterling.
