I've been looking over various threads regarding the sorts of hours that people work in Pub Fin, AM, M&A, etc, and it seems like people only tend to talk about the ones where the hours at the worst.
However, if I'm the type of person willing to take slightly lower compensation in order to not be stuck working 80-90 hours a week, I was wondering which areas are the best for me to be looking at? It seemed like generally Public Finance and Asset Management were a little bit better, but some of the things I read were from 5+ years ago, so I would appreciate an update on this topic. In addition, are there certain cities where things tend to be less stressful than others? I'm not obsessed with working in NYC, I'd actually rather work on the west coast (Seattle, SF, SJ, SD, etc). I don't mind working long days, but I really want to be able to have my weekends in order to do various things like biking/hiking, other outdoor activities, and track days, hanging out with s/o, etc.

2. What cities tend to have less stressful financial industries than others?
corporate finance seems to be pretty sweet when it comes to work life balance. I've read some private wealth management posts too and that really seems to depend on the firm. Why not commute to the city (whatever city you want) and live in the burbs?
