For those of you who finished school around the time that the 2008 recession hit, and those of you who were already working, what was it like either finding or keeping jobs? Do you think the experience would have been any different in a recession that hadn't been as impactful upon the finance industry?

I finished school in 2005 and joined a stat arb desk at an IB. 2008 was an amazing year, lots of dislocations in the market made for some easy money. Left for a large multi-manager fund in 2009 and then a few years later started a fund. So recession was great for me. As long as a recession causes a lot of vol I expect to do pretty good.
