Startup to replace investment banking analyst with machine learning.
I currently work in investment banking as an analyst, I've been in this position for a year already. To be honest, I've always been kind of a lazy individual and I hate doing menial work like research, formatting, inputting numbers into excel, taking notes for calls etc. I feel like its a waste of my talent and creativity. So instead of biting the bullet and toughing it out, I was thinking of ways I can automate the menial aspects of my job. I got pretty interested in learning how to program in my spare time, I've taken a few programming courses in college, but by no means am I an expert. I've been working a program using tensorflow to automate the most common tasks of an analyst............

Most of the big banks have groups/departments that you send that type of shit to and they send it back to you completed. (usually in decent shape)

So you're telling me a BB analyst doesn't spend all day reformatting PowerPoints?
They do but some slides get made in India & updating comps/precedents
Honestly no need of machine learning to do that, you just need a very reliable data source (let's say, you make a deal with Bloomberg to setup an API) and a computer can do pretty much all the modelling work and generate automatically comps/DCF/etc. You'd just need human operators to control and "sensitize" the output, i.e. adapt the assumptions for instance.

You can use tensorflow for for things like formatting, no? Most of IB analyst work is so mind numbing that AI wouldn’t even know what to do tbh.
Only thing I can see is maybe reading the hand writing of some MDs. I don’t even know where to start with that.
