STATE STREET Interview Question
I have a preliminary interview for the SS Professional Development Program in London, anyone been through this interview and have insight they're willing to share? I'm looking for interview structure, questions asked, what they're looking for, suggestions, what NOT to say.
Thanks in advanced for any help!
First round is mainly fit. Resume walkthrough, academic coursework, leadership, etc. They told us that elementary finance questions would be asked, but I didn't receive any.
Second round was three, one-hour interviews. Behavioral/fit questions along with some more quantitative/competency questions (probability questions, market questions, etc.). There was actually one or two accounting questions in the second round, partly (I think) because a portion of the PDP is the rotation into State Street's Finance division.
Just so you know, State Street announced that they are putting a freeze on promotion and merit based raises in 2009. Whether this would affect a structured program like PDP I don't know, but that could be something to think about.

upcoming interviews: john hancock & state street (Originally Posted: 01/26/2012)
I got a call today to schedule a phone interview with HR for the John Hancock Funds SA internship position. Also got an email from State Street asking if I was still interested in a summer internship and to send them dates I would not be available to interview... not sure what to make of the State Street email.
In any case, I haven't found much info, at all, on these forums about JH Funds summer internships. Anyone have experience with them? This is also my first HR phone interview, I'm expecting them to lead me through it and basically have me take them over my resume. Is that a fairly accurate assessment?
I was getting somewhat discouraged, as I am an undergrad at a non-target with SA at BB and Asset Management firm aspirations, and it seemed like a lot of people on these boards had already heard back from companies which they applied to. Needless to say I'm going to make the most of these two potential opportunities and keep my fingers-crossed that I hear from some of the other banks and firms I applied to as well.
Thanks, guys.
i got the same email from state street today also.and JH has yet to get back to me. I'm guessing you're in the Boston/MA area
I hope state street can get back to me asap, as they are the only firm that has gotten back to me.
Yeah I am in that area. Let me know when/if you hear from State Street. Just out of curiosity, what position did you apply for at State Street and JH? Good luck!
