Staying Boutique for a career
WSO,
From what I have gathered it seems as if the career path many of you aspire for is to get start as an investment bank analyst with summer programs and whatnot and eventually graduate and gets job with boutique firms then move onto bigger companies.
I know there are many career paths in finance, however does anyone stay in boutique their whole career?
It also seems like alot of older folks in finance come from big companies and start their own boutiques or partner up with others.
Fill me in!
Thanks
It all depends on your fit. Some people have natural tendicies to stray in one direction or another. (BB or boutiques) I tend to think that BB are more suited to people who work well in smaller groups while boutiques are for people who either work well alone or in large groups.
Thanks Heister.
I haven't worked at a large company in quite sometime but I don't like bureaucratic ways that seem to be involved in large organizations.
how long do we stay at a boutique? (Originally Posted: 08/09/2010)
Now how long should we stay at a boutique to pick up experience before we start applying to the BB? will 6-9 months be a bit too short? Assuming that the ultimate short term goal is still to join a BB.
