Stepping stone if you're interested in PE or VC or IB - Case Competition
Wanted to share this with folks and pay it forward from a recent discussion with a BAML analyst, she shared a great story about how she made a name for herself through competing in case competitions - in particular the annual Pacific Venture Capital Conference and Competition (PVCC). Not only did she win first place with her team, she had good things to say about the unique structure of the comp with two simultaneous competition streams being Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital.
To share some of the competition's structural side, it's a win-win if you're ready to hit the ground running (or just have a great team) whichever stream you participate in - if you're an entrepreneur with a startup idea, you'll very well meet sponsor VCs who might like your idea enough to fund you in the future, the actual prize money from the competition notwithstanding. If you're competing in the VC stream, you're evaluated on your analysis of businesses provided by the Entrepreneurship side. This along with mentorship from VC and PE industry professionals can be your ticket to standing out in a VC career skills-wise as well as beef up your resume with something vastly relevant to the field. Their marketing campaign PVCC 2017 just started caught my eye the other day and since I know the organizers, I thought I'd share this anecdote to help raise awareness. -also have their infobook attached for anyone interested
