(S&T)Preparation credit derivatives trading internship and what do traders look for in their interns?

I will be starting an internship this summer at the credit derivative desk in one of the bulge bracket bank and I wanted to know how should I best prepare myself? I come from a none finance background and is currently studying engineering. I have zero exposure to this side of the business, but have been reading thru posts on this forum and actively preparing myself. I also got into S&T by chance, so I was not focused on this role before.

I want to get some input on this forum on how to best prepare for a credit derivatives trading internship?I am also interested in finding out what do traders look for in their interns?

Welcome for any inputs and thanks in advance for answering my questions!

You should probably take a look at the products that the desk trades/sells and try to understand them so that when you get there you aren't completely lost. In credit derivatives you should probably take a look at CDS and Interest Rates Swaps as a starting point and then maybe take a look at more exotic products like swaptions or other stuff depending on what the desk does. Good luck !
