Straight to Hell...Thoughts?
I just finished reading Straight to Hell by John Lefevre. Definitely an entertaining read, but I've heard that many of his stories were wildly exaggerated. Wondering if anyone else has read this yet and had any thoughts on the book.
They are wildly exaggerated. LeFevre is just another media tool who's trying to make Wall Street look like a haven for criminals, misogynists, and jackasses.
Matt Levine, a writer from Bloomberg who used to work at Goldman said his stories are very wildly exaggerated. This douche proceeds to say he wasn't one of the cool guys in the right circles. This guy wrecks slime...
There might be some exaggeration, but nothing in it was straight-up not believable. Book was fucking hilarious and awesome IMO
I will admit it is an entertaining read but his stories definitely seem farfetched (Conjecture as I have no proof), much like Jordan Belfort's Catching the Wolf of Wall Street.
About half way through and it's very entertaining. Going to read Flash boys next.
Finally reading "Bank" since I just finished up the GOT series. I will order this book next since it sounds like a decent enough quick read, even if it is just a compilation of embellished stories.
Given the personalities that work within the industry and the fact that Asia in the mid 2000's was pretty much the wild west, I would say that there is only slight exaggeration. As he says himself, the reason that these things don't happen as often in the US/UK is simply because societal norms dictate that we act like decent human beings. I would say at least 70% of the people in the industry would act the exact same way if given the chance. Feel free to disagree, but that is rather naïve.

Really curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the new book coming out on July 14th called Straight to Hell. Very cool back story that has been unraveling for a while now that I know we are all familiar with.
If this is the first time hearing of the book I highly recommend you check out and do a little research on the whole story behind the twitter account, the supposed "GS" worker, and all the other topics that relate to this book.
Looks to me like another shameless, anti-finance media production. I wonder, did these writers stop maturing after the age of 14?
