Stuck in accounting roles forever??

This is my second time posting on the resume review forum. The main feedback I received my first time was to put my resume into the Mergers & Inquisitions format, which I have done.

My next question is how I can change any aspect of my resume to pitch it towards a finance role. To date, all of my positions have been in a very accounting focused position. My genuine interest is in finance/investment banking/research, but I am not sure how to display this in my resume. I have heard that accounting roles provide a solid background for people getting into IB, but I feel like if my experience is compared to someone with previous SA experience, I will come up short.

Any suggestions as to how I can angle my experience towards a finance role vs an accounting role would be greatly appreciated, as well as any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Your GPA is low. Did you do well in your "Relevant Coursework"? If so, list your grades. Example: Microeconomics (A), Financial Accounting (A-), Corporate Finance (A), etc....

Looks like you still have some time before graduation. Here's some advice:

1) Boost overall GPA as much as you can. Take easy-A courses if you must. 2) Get an internship in i-banking or research or whatever it is you're interested in. If you can only get an unpaid internship at some 5 person shop with almost no deal-flow, DO IT. Believe me, even that is better than having no banking experience at all. 3) Network like crazy.

Best of luck.

Same as above and remove MS Office from skills.

Willing to bet my bottom dollar you go to Carleton. A 3.2 from Carleton is a SERIOUS problem.
