Studying for the CFA® with a Neuroscience background...
Hey Monkeys,
Background - I just wrapped up my 3rd year of Hon. Neuroscience at a non-target school in Canada. I got involved with finance through competitions (namely the TMX options trading comp). Since then, I've been studying finance textbooks, and have taught myself some basic modeling. Before committing to writing the Chartered Financial Analyst L1 in December 2017, I was hoping to get some professional opinions. I think writing the CFA® will help me develop a better understanding of finance and show a commitment to finance, but at the same time, I wonder if it would really increase my chances of breaking into IB? I'm also starting a multi-disciplinary fund at my University (which has been a great learning opportunity), and I would much rather put all my spare time into building it up. Assuming I do choose to write it, what can I do properly prep myself, especially considering I don't have a lot of in-class finance knowledge?
Cheers,
