Stuttering in IB?
Hello everyone, I am currently majoring in finance at Rutgers and I stutter. My stutter is considered to be moderate and I just wanted to know if anyone has met someone who stuttered in IB or in Finance in general. Thankyou!

There is a guy at a MM PE fund that does, but handles it pretty well. PM me and I can give you his name.
Your stutter will probably stand out, but that’s not a bad thing per se. Just roll with the punches and I bet that at the end of the day, most people either will not care or will respect you more for grinding past it.
thank you!
Don't let it hold you back.
I previously worked in commercial banking, which would require large loan committee presentations in front of 20 individuals. A very high up person on this committee had not just a moderate, but an extreme stutter - he was around 65.
People won't mind the stutter - they will pay attention moreso to the content you're sharing. This guy basically had the final say in whether a loan was approved or not, and would follow through numerous stutters but knew his fucking shit, so the entire bank respected him.
Lucky for you, you won't have to speak very frequently as a junior, but don't be shy when you have to. If you stutter, so be it. Let your work ethic and quality define you, as well as your knowledge of the concepts and deep understanding of any given transaction.
Master the technicals required behind a computer screen. Concurrently, you can gradually work toward improving your stutter.
wow! thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate it!
Dont let that hold you back, bud.
You got this! Don’t let anything hold you back!
I also stutter, tbh it made me stress out a lot each time I started a new job/internship but no one ever made fun of me or commented on this. As long as you perform and you're cool socially speaking you'll be good with it. PM me if you have any question :)
thank you for sharing and will do, I appreciate it!
Hello,
Thank you for sharing. I would really like to pm you but it is not allowing me since you are anonymous on the post. How do I PM you?
Thank you!
Know a guy with a severe stutter that got a gig at MS. Wouldn't think it would hold you back.
May I PM you for his name? Would really like to know what steps he took and all that he did in order to do that. Thank you
props to you. I don’t think anyone is going to judge you and if anyone does then they are shit.
appreciate it, thank you!
It would take an unbelievably immature / shallow person to make fun of you for stuttering - prob a place you or I wouldn’t want to be at anyway. Happy to see everyone encouraging you because it shouldn’t be a concern!
thank you so much!
I worked with an MD who stuttered a lot. But the guy was brilliant and no one ever judged him for it. Honestly, after working with him enough, I didn’t even notice it anymore. It won’t affect you whatsoever.
was that at RBC Toronto?
Thank you for sharing!
