Stuttering in IB?

Hello everyone, I am currently majoring in finance at Rutgers and I stutter. My stutter is considered to be moderate and I just wanted to know if anyone has met someone who stuttered in IB or in Finance in general. Thankyou!

There is a guy at a MM PE fund that does, but handles it pretty well. PM me and I can give you his name.

Your stutter will probably stand out, but that’s not a bad thing per se. Just roll with the punches and I bet that at the end of the day, most people either will not care or will respect you more for grinding past it.

Don't let it hold you back.

I previously worked in commercial banking, which would require large loan committee presentations in front of 20 individuals. A very high up person on this committee had not just a moderate, but an extreme stutter - he was around 65.

People won't mind the stutter - they will pay attention moreso to the content you're sharing. This guy basically had the final say in whether a loan was approved or not, and would follow through numerous stutters but knew his fucking shit, so the entire bank respected him.

Lucky for you, you won't have to speak very frequently as a junior, but don't be shy when you have to. If you stutter, so be it. Let your work ethic and quality define you, as well as your knowledge of the concepts and deep understanding of any given transaction.

Master the technicals required behind a computer screen. Concurrently, you can gradually work toward improving your stutter.
