Summer analyst vs Full time analyst roles for masters student (UK)?
As the title says. I see both summer analyst roles and full time analyst roles on many careers pages of various banks. Can I apply for both? If not, which one should I focus on? I have some work experience and internships under my belt. I am applying for the asset management and global research divisions.
Thank you for the information!!
If you’re applying to big banks you should go for SA as that’s where they pull their FT classes from. If it’s independent AM then you can go for FT directly
Can I apply for both if I am eligible? Is the Full time analyst hiring the same time line?
Thank you for the information
What makes you think he can just apply FT for institutional AM’s? It’ll be even harder without a previous SA in the industry. They even moreso pluck out all FT from SA. Don’t lead candidates down a dark path, please
This just isn’t true at all. Most institutional AM have actual grad schemes whereas banks don’t. OP says they have work exp so applying to those programmes makes sense
Do you really consider taking on 2-3candidates a year at only like 2-3firms as a “grad scheme”. Go look at Schroders, Pimco, Fidelity, M&G, PGIM. None have grad schemes open as they all pretty much convert their interns. Blackrock and a few others are like the only firms that take a 1-2 grads for FO Investments and they are incredibly competitive
