Summer before starting

I have a place at a BB but not in IBD for next Sept and want to get some IB experience beforehand as it where I'd like to end up. Having a prior IB SA would make that much easier down the line, or else to jump ship to IB for FT 2014 at whatever summer place I got after a year at my current bank.

I'm mindfull that I'm not doing a masters next year so may be ineligable for other BB SA programs due to program structure.

Questions:

Are there any places that would be interested in someone in my current situation?
Is it a stupid idea to apply for summer positions for the summer after you graduate?
Is their a conflict of interest if I've already signed for FT with another bank?
Is this what I should be doing with my last summer of freedom????

There is no reason you can't intern after graduating, I did it myself.

What possible conflict of interest could there be? You will have no sensitive information from your 2014 bank and in your contract for a 2013 SA you will be signing an NDA, and anything sensitive you might learn there will likely become public knowledge or irrelevant by 2014 anyway.

If you have an FT offer, there is no point doing an internship UNLESS you really don't want to work at the place you have the offer for, or you think there is a risk of the offer being rescinded. Just doing it to get experience is a bad idea, just buy BIWS and do that for 17 hours a day with a friend telling you to reformat it every few hours.

Go on holiday and enjoy yourself.

Yep, I've had a few FT IB interviews over the last few weeks with analysts who joined after interning after their final year claiming to start MSc/MFin after graduation but were offered unconditional returns for the following year so never actually had to do the masters. Do you fall into this category?

My situation is: I have a FT offer but not in the division I really want. I start Sept 2013. Is it reasonable to apply for SA's with other firms (summer 2013)? Or will any firm ding me due to my full time job starting in sept? Even boutiques?

A holiday is an ace idea and its probably what will happen. Just tossing ideas around.
