Summer class resume help!
I will be attending a semi target next year. Eventually I want to work for a bb.
I was curious if I take a couple classes over the summer at a local community college to get ahead on credits, will recruiters see that I studied at a community college and will it look bad in the future?
The classes that I would take would just be G.E. classes such as writing and or history.
Please give me your advise and concerns! Thanks!
I don't think taking classes at a C.College should be a problem later on .....seems very proactive if you ask me.
It will show as transfer credit on your transcripts, but I don't think it will look bad if you tell them why you did it, especially at a semi-target
No, it's common for kids to go home for the summer and take classes at their local CC
I don't even list the other schools in my resume
Quick resume question - Just transferred (Originally Posted: 09/08/2011)
I just transferred to a regional target's business school from a community college. I just finished a summer course at the target school and got an A. I'm going into junior year so I will be looking for SA positions. Should I leave of my community college and say that I have a 4.0/4.0 even though I only took one course?
don't put it
No thays very misleading
Is this a serious question?
Fuuu! So I'm going to have a community college on my resume going into SA recruiting?
CC on my resume? (Originally Posted: 01/09/2013)
I just transferred from a local community college and am looking for internships at larger companies big 4, BB etc. I graduated with a 3.91 GPA and was automatically accepted into my new universities honors program. I can list the new school and the honors program on my resume but don't have a GPA from them yet since I haven't completed my first semester.
Im trying to decide if I should the CC w/GPA, the university w/o a GPA, or both
I attached a modified copy w/o my personal information. Basically should I delete the CC and fill in more work experience or keep it as is? Any other advice is appreciated.
What do you guys think?
I think the education section makes sense the way it is. I would leave it.
Yeah. I got a little more input today about it. I think I will leave it the way it is. Thanks
Putting CC and GPA on resume (Originally Posted: 07/11/2006)
I am transfer student -Community College to ivy- and i was wondering if i should put cc on my resume for summer analyst '07. Also, during my time at cc i had a 3.8. Being away from home for the first time and joining a fraternity took a toll on my gpa last semester, i had a 2.6. Can i average the two and still leave cc out?
They usually check transcript, and I don't think CC GPA is very credible in the recruiters eyes.
It's a dawg eat dawg world.
Please, anyone with insight feel free to weight in. The reason I ask is b/c i read a previous post on which an IB recruiter indicated that it is best to leave cc off. Also comment on the gpa averaging. Lastly, do all banks check transcripts?
ugh I came from a CC and that's just unfair if they hold it against you.
They are going to ask for a transcript from your current school. If not, background checks can find out the same info. It is ill advised to average the cc and ivy unless your current school lists it that way. Your best bet is just to list both schools seperately and explain why there is such a difference. However, the whole frat rushing thing isn't a very good excuse. If I was the recruiter, it would signal to me that either 1) CC was too easy and your having trouble adjusting to new academic environment, which means you might have trouble keeping up with the fast paced ibank world 2) Your unable to manage your time effectively, which brings in to question your ability to handle a time pressure environment. Maybe another excuse?
What school can i put on my resume (Originally Posted: 02/15/2012)
Im will be trying to get an internship at several local IB boutiques in my area for this summer. I am currently at community college, however have guaranteed acceptance to UCSD. My goal is Berkeley or Columbia and I have a 3.9 GPA, and am currently completing a research internship & have BIWS financial modeling course.
My question is should I indicate somewhere on my resume that I have guaranteed acceptance to UCSD? I also attended a semi-target(Indiana University) my first semester freshman year(Im a sophomore).
Thanks in advanced
If you don't mine me asking... How come you left Indiana University to attend a CC?
A combination of out of state cost & it just not being a fit for me, I didnt like indiana. I went to a CC so I could have a better shot of transferring to Cal,UCLA, USC
Pretty deceptive to put "guarantee acceptance at USCD" when you are not even planning on going there.
But its the lowest "ranked" school im applying to, so any deception would really be deflating my resume. It's just so they do not assume im some CC student applying to lower tier schools.
You have bigger problem than that.
There is nothing wrong with a CC. But if we were to go by most low regards of CC, you would be already coming from a CC, so what could be lower than that?
I really don't know how to answer your original question. Good luck

Hey everyone, new here. and i have been browsing around and notice everyone has good suggestions for resume design/ building
I appologize if this is in the wrong section
First off my Resume Is pretty weak.. (when i am done i will upload it on here)
a few questions.. I went to a community college and recieved and AA degree before I transferred to a University, Is it wise to put that on there?
and should i List my major GPA and then overall GPA or vice versa
thanks again every1
What University did you finish your degree at? What was you GPA and your Major GPA? If your GPA is above 3.0, then list it but if not, then don't as it is generally understood that if it's left out - it's under 3.0 anyways. I would probably leave out the Community College on the resume as this is something that can get you dinged instantly. Also, this may be just because it's a web board but your grammar and syntax is incorrect and if this correlates to your inquiring about positions, then this will get you dinged automatically also. This is not meant to be an attack, just honest feedback - hope it helps.
Sorry I was in a hurry, My GPA was a 3.1 but my major GPA is significantly higher 3.5ish (economics) I graduated form the University of Miami
my overall gpa would be alot higher but i failed a class, car broke down, and was commuting, so attendance dropped.
I would add both GPA's to your resume and try to divert some attention from it by adding EC's and non-typical classes taken
rinse and repeat sig.
do you guys have any advice on a weak resume lol
