Summer intern hours?
For those of you who have started IB summer internships, what have hours been like so far? What are the hours like during training? For those who haven't started, feel free to input what you all think hours will be like.

About 40-45 hours a week so far (3 weeks in). Doubt it will reach above 60+ at all this summer.
Really? B/c of the lack of dealflow? Or you're not really getting to work on live deals and instead doing busy work and "summer projects"?
Could you describe what they have you doing?
First 2 weeks were company training and then training the street. Last week was the first "offical" week on the desk. First few days were slow while getting up to speed on what's going on. HR is being very strict about overtime hours. Analysts have put a hard stop to interns working past 8pm on any materials.
It's currently 4am and still working. I would like to rescind my previous statement ab only 60 hours a week.
HR has put a hard cap in 55hrs for the interns. Anything above that will be escalated with senior management
How can you even track/enforce hours for virtual interns?
Can an intern really say "sorry MD I'm at hour 54 so I can't adjust the logos on this deck for you" ?
Log in and log out hours will be tracked and send to HR every week (happens for analysts and associates as well). My bank has a general midnight cap for normal internships (when not WFH) so people are used to having interns around with restricted hours.
what the hell...how are we supposed to be more than just useless virtual interns if we're forced to log off in the evenings when things are just starting to pop off?
Depending on the bank, interns will only get cases to work on rather than actual work. This is mainly due to ensure security of confidential client info. In the situations that interns will work on actual IB tasks it’ll probably be in the context of doing sector related research / comps (i.e. public date)
Not true, my bank has us working on all the parts of the deal - including those that involve MNPI.
How do they normally track interns hours? Do they actually monitor the laptop?
80 hours, EB
Probably 9/10 - midnight Mon-Thurs; 10-6 on Friday and 8 hours over the weekend. Very little down time aside from occasional lunch/dinner with other team members. At MF PE
At BB -
M-F 9:30-1/2
Sunday - 6-7 hours
am I the only one doing actual work of about 20 hour a week
I literally haven’t been doing anything. Maybe 30 hours TOTAL since I’ve started
what kind of bank are you at? boutique, bb, mm, etc.
