Job before freshman year
I am an incoming freshman who will be attending a southern semi-target and was just wondering how beneficial is having a job in your intended field before you go to college? Does it help at all for recruiting or is it too early to have an impact on future employment?
It can't hurt you. If you have the opportunity give it a try, you never know finance might not be your thing. What do you mean by job? Is it in the finance field or is it like consumer banking? I have found it very difficult to get an internship without about 2 years of college on my belt.
Give it a try work experience never hurts. (Most kids going into investment banking do not work in finance before their freshman year)
Energy finance, not consumer banking. I'm probably going to go through and do it to test the waters I just wasn't sure how it would be viewed on a resume considering it occurred before undergrad rather than during.

Hi,
I am starting my none-finance degree at a top London target school this september, and since I do not really have any leadership or work experience whatsoever, I deceided to try and get an internship at a local boutique bank here in Germany. My ultimate goal is to work in an FO IB role.
Obviously they could not place me with their hardcore banking teams, however, I have an offer to work with their corporate communications, marketing and leadership team for five weeks. Taking into consideration that I do not want to work at that company or in that area later in my life, do you think this is sufficient to smooth over my lack of other activities back in high school?
