Supply Chain experience > mba > IB

Currently working in supply chain for a large chemical company in Texas, but I am looking into making the switch to energy IB. I was not particularly motivated in college, so I ended up with a sub 3.0 in communication… I know, it’s shit. Since college I got my act together and, in the 4 years since I graduated, I have gradually moved up in supply chain (procurement) for various companies in the energy sector.

While doing some research and tracking the career paths of various employees at bb’s and boutique banks on linkedin, I’ve noticed many of these men/women made the switch to ib after receiving mbas from top universities. However, most of these men/women graduated with engineering, finance, or economics degrees and almost none of them have worked in supply chain post college.

So assuming I make it into a top 25 university (rice or mccombs) and I network the heck out of myself, is it too far fetched for me to make the switch to ib? Also, better idea to pursue a professional mba while I continue to work or study FT?
