Supporting Family Members

Besides your parents, would any of you be willing to suport other family members? I may sound somewhat selfish, but I don't think I would. I'll gladly help my parents and sibilings if it was in my power to do so, but would not do it for other family members, unless it was an emergency or some event like a wedding. I guess it has to do with culture as well, as it is expected in some cultures, I come from a culture where it is expected to help but then in my family each generation is dependent on the next and I don't think that is a good cycle.

I currently help support my mom and my grandma.  I don't think I'd help out any of my cousins/aunts/uncles though no, unless it were a very serious scenario close to life or death, otherwise they're on their own.

"The obedient always think of themselves as virtuous rather than cowardly" - Robert A. Wilson | "If you don't have any enemies in life you have never stood up for anything" - Winston Churchill | "It's a testament to the sheer belligerence of the profession that people would rather argue about the 'risk-adjusted returns' of using inferior tooth cleaning methods." - kellycriterion

Right, this what I was thinking. I would be more than willing to help out if it were a true emergency, but otherwise I shouldn't be the one supporting them.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
