Controversial

Lockdowns haven't worked either. What are we on? 3rd or 4th lockdown (that includes the rest of Europe as well).

Democrats and fake scientists ain't even abiding by their own rules. They're out partying and going on vacations.

I would rather die free then live on my knees for communism.

Australia and NZ are tiny nations.

In fact, before the virus, New Zealanders barely even worked. The whole city is usually closed by 5:00 pm on most normal days. Now compare that with the US where people work 12 plus hours and attend many social events. The US is a high tourist destination as well with many tourist from China who carried the virus.

Anyone who compares the US and Europe to Aus/NZ are truly desperate to justify these unlawful and unconstitutional lockdowns.

If you love lockdowns and communism so much, then feel free to stay home for the remainder of your life.

I also find it funny that many wealthy people especially on WSO and in finance support these lockdowns. I guess life is easy having mummy and daddy take care of you with that trust fund money. You will never understand the struggle of the average middle class American and small business owners. Of course lockdowns are easy for you because you live in either mansions or luxury apartments.

What’s so frustrating about this whole argument is that you’re claiming, under the guise of patriotism, that selfish behavior is the correct way to navigate this environment, despite that being the exact OPPOSITE of patriotism. Put it this way, if this were WWII, you’d be the guy bitching about not being able to eat as much sugar as you normally would due to rationing. On a daily basis you sacrifice your individual rights in order to not infringe on others, for example you drive the speed limit, when you fly you take off your shoes and are inconvenienced by TSA, and you pull over to the side of the road when an ambulance goes by. Many parts of our society are already designed to bend for those in peril or in danger, and we mitigate those risks through policy that you already comply with.

The fact is, if the US had a strong, fully complied with, national lockdown for 3-4 weeks back in spring, combined with some mask-wearing afterwards as we tested, we wouldn’t have 300,000+ and counting dead Americans. That, and we also wouldn’t be wringing our hands about doing another lockdown this winter. The problem isn’t that the lockdowns don’t work, it’s that we didn’t have the stones, or frankly, patriotism and compassion for our fellow Americans who are high risk, back in April to do it the right way.

This year was an opportunity for America to come together and achieve a common goal for the safety of our citizens, and we failed to do so because wearing masks is too inconvenient.

Remember, we already paid the price economically, and if we could be open right now, everything would be back to normal if we had simply done this properly back in April. A 4-week total lockdown in April is better than a half-assed one for 9-12 months, both from an economic standpoint and public health one.

Lockdowns "did work" for the first couple months or so.

But now that we have a lot more information on what parameters we can control to prevent the spread of the virus, indiscriminate lockdowns aren't doing anything but destroy the economy

For example, we now know that dining isn't a major source of the spread (probably because of the safety measures). Instead we know that massive indoor events without proper ventilation and small private indoor gatherings among are the biggest spreaders. It makes sense to advise people to limit private gatherings and maybe even ban large indoor events (or impose social distancing and low capacity rules). So why does it make sense to shutdown restaurants?

Honestly, at the end of the day...If we were to burn down the country entirely COVID wouldn't exist anymore. Prove me wrong, I won't hold my breath. We have to go scorched earth with this, literally. We can deal with the fallout later.

Want proof of this site's non-target demographic? Look at the people in this thread and their bitching about their want to "die freely." Go ahead, you fucking state schooler, just don't take out my grandma with you.
