Switch out of Fund Servicing to the buy side
Hi Everyone,
I have been a part of the client service team at State Street for the past 2.5 years. We do fund servicing and administration (Trade processing, fund invoicing, audit support , daily deliverables ... etc) which I consider to be back office. If you have had a job like that you know how boring and tedious it is, literally losing brain cells everyday I'm in this role. I have been trying to switch out of this role for a while no with no success. I have been trying to get a buy side role which are Investment Analyst roles or any role on a portfolio management team but right now I have started looking at other options that are easier to get into with my current client facing experience (Wealth Management) .
My question is what do I need to do to equip myself or improve my chances of making this switch. I do not have a strong network (not quiet sure how to improve that), I am a CFA level III candidate and I plan on learning financial modelling this coming month and hopefully start working on my own portfolio of models. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
