I've been in banking (Treasury/debt/capital issuance) for about 4/5yrs and few months ago i made a switch into Tech FP&A. Last year i was so convinced that i wanted to go into tech, but now im wondering whether i was just excited by how cool it sounded/pay.
Having done this fp&a role for a few months now, i just find myself dreading each day, have no motivation to do anything more than the bare minimum. The role is typical reporting/consolidation work with some ad-hoc projects. Dont see myself taking on roles of my manager/other colleagues. Not even excited by the company's mission /vision anymore.
In the back of my mind, i have been thinking if i should go into asset/portfolio management as i have a CFA and my roles in banking have been primarily market facing and i really miss that.Delete delete delete deleteDelete delete delete deleteDelete delete delete deleteDelete delete delete deleteI think the rational thing to do would be to stay in tech FP&A at least for 1yr, but the thought of staying here for that long makes me quite miserable.
Anyone have any tips on how i should assess my dilemma? Gut feeling is that i should switch but not sure.
What about joining the treasury team at your tech firm? Large tech firms usually have pretty solid treasury teams that are pretty much their own internal trading team.
