Switching firms with limited exp
Hey everyone,
I just started as an ER associate a couple months ago and I want to switch firms as soon as possible. The work itself is not a problem and I can handle the hours. However, culture-wise it's not a good fit and it's definitely taking a toll on my overall happiness as well as my learning experience thus far. I relocated away from my friends and family for this job so it has been a tough few months. I honestly hate waking up for work everyday. I know it's not good to burn bridges by leaving a firm so early and I will try my hardest to make it to the 1-year mark, but I honestly don't know if that will happen. I'm originally from the nyc area so that's where I would like to relocate. The firm I work for has a decent reputation in research. Any advice?
Sort of in a similar situation. I'd say start networking now with people in research at firms you'd like to work for. While waiting for that 1-year mark, build those relationships and do whatever you can to improve your resume. Start studying for CFA/ take a modeling course/ etc. Time will start to fly and you'll be prepared to leap even before the 1y mark hits.
