Taking notes during due-diligence calls
Hey Everyone. As the title implies, this is regarding due diligence calls. I'd love to hear any tips or organization methods people use to take notes during the calls. Esp. when a lot of stats start to get discussed and they tend to move around. Its nice to have a clean organized sheet of notes to pass along to the VP/MD rather than jumbled random facts.
Use the windows recording function. Think it’s windows key + g
When it comes to note taking in IB, it’s more about what you can’t miss.
Write down any number, name, trend, and next steps. Those are what the MD’s look for.
You could have written down 99% of all the words that were spoken, but if you missed a number that was mentioned, you can forget about getting a fruit basket.
record it on your phone
also is there an agenda prior to these calls? just break it out per the agenda outline
No don’t do this. It’s a horrible idea lol
how? every analyst i know does this
Like everyone has said, record everything on your phone
I like the recording, but all things considered, i have been trying to tell myself it would be more efficient to not have to listen to them twice just get it once. but that is a really good point with the numbers.
Also a VP im working with is stickler about the recording. Really doesnt like it for some reason, keep saying they arent supposed to be recorded. Even though just about everyone does it.
its not, compliance issues. my work phone doesnt have voice memos for a reason. I just try to write down time stamps as new Qs are asked, and use my personal phone to record.
