Technical Analysis Research - Niche field?
Hello All,
Haven't been able to find out anything much about TA research jobs.
What are the skillsets required to do well in this and what about the exit opportunities?
It seems to me that its a rather niche field that might not payoff compared to a fundamental research analyst?
I think you'd do better in the trading forum.
I think you mean TA strategist, someone who scribbles all over charts with more shapes and colors than one can fathom, and desseminates that as part of their periodic commentary. There are very few people on the sellside who do that and they're all in their 50s, mostly with years of prior trading experience so there's not much one can do to prepare for such a role beyond being a dinosaur in every conceivable manner. Conducting research on technical analysis using a scientific, measured approach falls into quant - totally different animal.
That's exactly what i meant. Is it too much of a specialist role? I have an interview on the sellside for that role and like you said, its a really small team with years of experience. Is this a sunset department?
