Technical Statistics Question

For 55 graduating seniors who took the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), the following results were obtained: ∑ X = 2,942.5, ∑ X2 = 165,606.68 Use the normal distribution to answer the following questions.

15-What is the percentile rank of a score of 71?

Saw this in a technical book. Have not taken stats yet...so how would you suggest going about this? and what did you get as an answer?

Variance = E[X^2]-(Ex^2) Variance = (165,606.68/55) - (2,942.5/55)^2 = 3011.031 - 2862.25 = 148.7805

std dev ~ 12.2 mean = 53.5

That's your distribution, and now you can get the percentile pretty straightforward. Lazy to calculate, but a quick reverse engineering from percentiles says it's around 92.5 percentile

hmm that is not what it has as the answer...

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat, that's a fact.

[quote=baller_trader]∑X2 is ∑(X^2), right? And by percentile you mean (100 * P(X
