Telling Interviewers I was furloughed when looking for new jobs?
So I was furloughed from my job for about a month now, management says it is only temporary (ideally 3 months) but, I know it's probably not the case, just because of the overall market, especially NYC.
But in terms of interviewing for new jobs, and the reason why I am leaving, is it wrong/bad to say I am currently working and just looking for something new, as I actually am looking for something new the job market just hasn't been the best, do I have to, or should I disclose being furloughed to companies I am interviewing for?
What industry are you in? In some like consulting furloughs have been very commonplace so not a yellow flag whatsoever
Either way, I don't think a problem being open about it if you add some context around changes in the broader org (e.g. my entire department was furloughed, I was one of 5000 employees furloughed) just to allay any suspicion that it was performance related
