Thank you to WSO
I just want to thank everyone on this forum. Not that it was THAT much help, but it was definitely gave me an extra edge over the other candidates. I got 5 offers, 1 IBD, 2 Corp Banking, 1 Fund of Funds and 1 AM. This past fall I couldn't even land interviews. Now people are offering me jobs like crazy. For all of you who are still looking for SA/FT, be fcuking persistent. Make your resume perfect. If you think it can be better, then it can be better. Network and ask people for help, they will give it. It's all about persistence and being passionate in the interviews. I'm not even a business major, have a 3.5 and go to a semi-target. My advice is if you show that you want the job the MOST, you will get it.
Thanks again everyone.
no problem any time
Def agree. When I was in college, wso def gave me a leg up on what to expect, so I could prepare better for interviews.
Good to hear, persistence is key. Good luck!
WSO is the only reason my GPA rose by 1 point and that I built a strong network.....and thus the only reason I got a solid SA offer (as well as interviews at top firms like GS & MS)
please excuse my ignorance, but how did you manage to increase your GPA by 1 point from help on here?
And yes, I wholeheartedly agree with the OP and personally have been following advices on MergerInquisition and started calling all available firms in my local area by looking up on Google Map, still waiting on responses. WSO has been of great help to me
I had a 2.4 first semester freshman year. I found this website, it put a huge chip on my shoulder and the motivation carried through to the classroom. Which really pushed my GPA upto a 3.4 and my Major to a 4.0
Congrats bro. WSO definitely helped me as well...too bad I only discovered it mid-junior year.
This is the best post I've seen on here in a while. This is so true. BE FUCKING PERSISTENT! Some advice on here says to be somewhat aloof, which is definitely the more professional approach when going through a hiring process; however if you haggle them a little you'll at least standout.
I definitely agree with all of the above. WSO helped me land a FT IBD spot at a BB...in my favorite group no less!
Great to hear guys :-)
This thread reads like an infomercial.
Feel good thread right here
Let me go ahead and add to this. the actual forum has been tremendously helpful, but the guides have been EXTREMELY helpful.
i actually used them on their own and I got multiple IBD BB offers. No vault guide. So again, thanks!
haha yep, this is a damn testimonials thread. But I have to give credit to WSO (guides and forum), because it helped me be 100% in my IBD interviewing. Every interview I have had has resulted in an offer. Thank you to all of the great WSO dudes who helped along the way.
...with all these comments I finally don't need the machine in Figure 1 above.
personally, I think the threads on interviewing have so far been the best. If anything, the greatest I learned: purpose of aninterview isn't to inspect how much you know, but rather to give the MD's an opportunity to see if they like you. THerefore the behavioral questions should be the bulk of your preparations.........which is exactly what I practiced. I practiced them/thought about them to death. It also helped that I wasn't an econ major.....so I automatically stood out like a sucker, in a good way.
sometimes, just sometimes, it's good to be a little differnet.
I'm with you on that comment blu dev. Those threads improved my performance and were a great factor in landing my SA offer.
Also, I'm from a semi-target and will agree that PERSISTENCE is key.
So much emotion in here...I think I'm gunna cry...here it comes... :'-(
btw made your decision yet?
Agree with johnnyd. I bought the 2 guides after 2 BB interviews and wished I had bought them earlier. Every question I got stumped on was in the guides. And yes, they did eventually help me get a BB SA position. Not to forget the help from fellow monkeys. Thanks guys!
Thanks WSO! This site made me feel not alone in my struggles to get on Wall Street.
Couldn't agree more. I have a 3.4 from a non target and was able to land an offer at a solid MM with all the help that I got here from posters like edmundo/mez/drexelum/marcus/bankon (and more) and of course by being persistent.
I took AM. Was the best firm, group, and opp in my eyes.
Congrats. Very inspiring. I'm sure you've made the right choice ;)
Anyway, would u mind elaborating on your journey? Pretty sure all of us who're still struggling can learn from it.
Congratulations. Hearing stuff like this makes me feel like I'll still have a chance one day

But seriously, this site is a great resource. I'll continue to use it during my college years.
This is my first post here and I hope to reap the benefits from the site as well. Hear Hear!
Congrats man. I definitely agree with you that WSO has helped tremendously in terms of getting advice on interview questions and asking season veterans for help.
I've received a lot of help here from members, even for experienced interviews. Been using the site since 2006, great resource. Congrats to the OP on his offers.
WSO has helped me in a different way. I'm not following the common paths of trading or ibd, so it's not had much direct relevance to my job search. However, I'm a complete noob to the world of WS, and reading the posts on here (some really informative stuff by actual professionals like Bondard, IlliniProgrammer, BrotherBear and many others) has helped me get comfortable with the financial world. Plus, it makes for a good time-pass read during the day :).
aw congrats :)
so inspiring! congratulation dude!!
Ya seriously. Exposure to this has really helped me know what to expect. Really I didn't know people could be so helpful e.g AnthonyD1982. Thanks to all you experienced guys and this forum I got a couple of internships!
Thanks to WSO. Definitely helped me land an offer as well. Helps to hear great advice from real people.
Although I only discovered wso in senior year it was def a great resource and a unique one at that. There are so many qualified people who post.
DAMN coffeebateman way to go with the GPA raise.
WSO definitely gave me a better understanding as to what to expect during interviews and it's still helping me to this day, as I enter my summer internship. I couldn't have gotten a BB S&T SA gig without the help of people on the forums. Thanks!
