The Baby That Was Born With No Brain

Wow, that is crazy. I don't get how he is living
Brain stem allows muscle and organ functions I think. Too lazy to google but what a miracle/tragedy.
op quit calling the kettle black...you were the 2nd consecutive president elected without a brain
Why are they even keeping him alive? He can't see, talk, walk or anything & has to take 12 different medications to get by everyday..it doesn't matter if he's breathing if he can't even experience life.
And how the hell is he still alive? It's a miracle, but it's just torture for the baby. He was a born as a human vegetable..
How is it torture for the baby? It doesn't even know what's going on. It doesn't even know it's alive
holy shit
i can't even imagine what this means to people studying philosophy...
Was literally just about to post something about the Philosophical implications. Pretty crazy to think about a functional human existence without sentience. Would be interesting to study the extent to which human functionality is reflexive versus consciously achieved.
Also, this might be kind of fucked up or controversial, but I imagine that studying it would be incredibly helpful to geneticists developing cloning technologies. If you could clone a healthy human body that doesn't have sentience, it would significantly shift the ethical debate regarding the feasibility of farming organs.
Pretty fascinating stuff.
Wow this video was posted in 2010, i wonder what's happened with that baby since then. He looks a lot like his mother. Very interesting. Crazy how he's survived for so long.

This case of anencephaly isn't as freaky as others I've seen even weirder in textbooks

Holy fucking shit. My mind literally just exploded watching that video.
--It can't see anything --It can't hear anything
Looking at Wikipedia for some more info on the condition, it seems as though the baby can only perform autonomic and regulatory functions, such as the control of respiration, the heartbeat and blood pressure. It is not a sentient being in any sense of the word, it's more or less a house plant in a human shell.
"A baby born with anencephaly is usually blind, deaf, unconscious, and unable to feel pain. Although some individuals with anencephaly may be born with a main brain stem, the lack of a functioning cerebrum permanently rules out the possibility of ever gaining consciousness, reflex actions such as breathing and responses to sound or touch may occur."
I want this baby in a lab, at any cost. I want it to live and grow so we can study it. And then, if we ever develop AI, I want to give it a brain.
We need to send g-men in black helicopters to their house, decimate the family, and take the baby to an undisclosed location.
We can make this happen.
