They'll still be allowed to post nude photos, just no explicitly pornographic material. Anyway, with all the scamming that happens on onlyfans, and the simps that enable it, I doubt this will hurt the pockets of most onlyfans performers.

Alot of the bigger pornstars have their own personal sites anyway, it wont be that hard for the smaller ones to set one up either.

Maybe it’s like when Yahoo acquired Tumblr and cracked down on NSFW content maybe? Not sure if Tumblr made too much money before that or after from what I know.

I think there may be potential for OF in terms of their innovative tech / product seems to be the subscription platform / a solid way at least in concept for creators to monetize their content. Like Twitter I think is starting to add features that I believe are more native / innovated by OF.

there might be a business model there that is more than just like that Canadian company I think that owns some of the largest adult entertainment sites on the web I think.

im not much of a user if at all of OF, Yahoo (besides yahoo’s finance occasionally), Twitter (besides googling a few creators every now and then that I can see without an account, looking at you Litquidity lol), Tumblr, or social networks / tech in general so not sure I have much expertise besides some layman/general thoughts. Open to hearing others

Okay thanks. You are welcome :)

I’m not so sure how the economics of OF worked and if the creators of the app/website/platform have actually made any money off of it or if it just went to the creators / celebrities themselves. The only thing I read about OF is I think big top line revenue numbers. But I’m not sure if that was gross or net and how much went to the creators. Nevertheless, if the firm / founders had so much money, I’m not sure why they would even want/need investors which I think is what may have driven them to go SFW this time? I’m not sure

are you saying that whoever starts like a NSFW app to like monetize people wanting an online red light district type thing is going to make a lot of money? I’m not sure. Curious to hear why maybe you think. Doesn’t make too much sense to me but I don’t know. If this just like your assessment of the red light economy and that it’s very big in your estimate?

Always thought this was the kind of thing that would make sense to be on the blockchain, where no one ever could shut it down. A creator could sell NFTs which provide access to viewing their content and get paid in Ethereum. No need for KYC, laws, regulation, or fiat payment rails. Probably a billion dollar idea if executed correctly but it could go downhill real quick and not the type of thing I’d want to get involved in.

Echoing similar sentiments - I can't see how this isn't bullish for crypto in general. I think if people were paying attention to what has happened in the past 9 months, today's news wouldn't have come as a surprise. There were actually rumors a couple months back that this would happen but nobody reacted at that point. Pornhub basically banning all homemade content late last year because of complaints about hosting & sharing rape/child abuse/trafficking videos should have really been seen as a harbinger - I imagine that OF was also facing similar pressures. + The big issue that few are mentioning is chargebacks - this kind of product/content lends itself to chargebacks because users basically try to get the content free, falsely telling their banks that the their card was stolen or the product was not as described; It's often how a lot of the content gets leaked. So can you imagine how grating that must be for payment networks? Some companies in different industries have been pushing for tighter chargeback restrictions for a while now, so this pretty much ties into it.

If porn, in general, was a major accelerant to early internet/technological adoption, I can't see why it can't be an accelerant for wider crypto use & adoption. For once the crypto evangelists might actually be right with their oft-stated view that "Crypto solves this!". I've seen the complaints from the girls on twitter about the current platforms and it boils down to: OF was skimming 20% off of what they made, loose safety in terms of content sharing, chargebacks overwhelmingly suiting the payer,  constantly having their tipping/tribute sources (Paypal & Venmo accounts) shut down because of AML.

Someone just needs to build an OF equivalent on crypto with KYCC (know your content creator to make sure girls are 18+) & tout the following advantages:

-No chargeback ability - once the crypto is sent or used to pay for transactions, it cannot be recovered.

-Not easily shut down

-Currency generally appreciates in value & there are passive income mechanisms in place (staking, yield-generating protocols from lending your crypto)

-Convertibility advantage: if transactions on the OF crypto occur in the native cryptocurrency, then you can easily convert that to stablecoins or majors (ETH, BTC, BNB)

-Relative ease in converting back to fiat. A lot of people think crypto is difficult to cash out, but the truth is you only really need to call your bank or meet with somebody at a branch to explain that you're expecting a deposit if the incoming deposit is large. On/Off-ramps (CB, Binance, etc) don't ask about specifics of trades when you cash out & banks just want to make sure you're not money laundering.

Biggest sticking point will remain the cashing out + not having stronger controls over leaking/content sharing - if these two issues are somehow solved, then it's a massive tailwind for crypto and whatever projects working directly on this.

I mean, thats always been the playbook right? Start with the sex stuff to draw them in, then try to go mainstream. Some didn't go full out porn, but were focused on some sort of physical image. Facebook for example basically started as Hot or Not. SnapChat was first used by teens to send nudes because they got "deleted". Kim K built a whole empire on it.

All the independent whamens will now have to get a real job.

I still don't understand how they make so much money, you have to be the biggest cuck ever to pay a single cent to OnlyFans.

Onlyfans and Tiktok should be banned imo, bunch of dumbass degenerates, both the posters and viewers.

Btw, isn't it funny that the CEO of Onlyfans who's banning nudity was also Lehman's Chief Risk Officer during the GFC lol.

I think the entire situation is based on the fact that a lot of mainstream girls are willing to do it. Might be the pandemic, general economic issues, the amount of money that is coming through, etc.

You are right to assume that seeing a random girl in a bikini isn't that much of a big deal. I would never pay for that.
But what if a cute girl at work would do it? Or the girl you met at a club a few months ago? What about that girl you have been following on youtube and have a crush on? How about that date that dumped you?
If a guy realizes there is some form of a personal connection to that girl, he might pay to see her naked... it changes the game.

I could go into my large facebook contacts right now and I know at least three girls are on OF. If I wanted to see them naked, I could pay.

I would call it the "girl next door appeal". You wouldn't pay for a random naked girl, but if the neighbor's daughter is on OF, many guys might pay.

OF is the democratization of adult content, the social media of porn.

I've never used OF, but I have to image its an experience thing right. Its like when super rich guys or celebrities get low priced hookers.

I agree with above that its the democratization of porn. This is a bad example, but its kind of like the circus. At one point the circus was basically the freak show, which porn kind of is; OF is the Ringling Brothers circus. More production in a way.

Further, I think its in the next step in where we are going. At one point, for a woman to show interest they let guys see their ankles, now we have songs like WAP, or if you took people from the 70s and let them see what some woman wear to work at major corporations, they be like "when did they let prostitutes start working here". I mean, at some point, we're going to have more Moms (and I guess Dads in some way) twerking videos on some social media platform than not. The next generation will prob take the next step.

true, OF subscribers are pathetic af, my gosh these fucking simps
