The Introduction of a future somebody
i'll cut to the chase; 22 year olds, recent college graduate, professional baseball player for the Tampa Bay rays, i am in a unique situation there is no doubt about that. I'm sick of waiting to play baseball and having my pro career put on hiatus because of CDC restrictions. I want to start my life already in the IB industry and i'm as hungry as a starving dog looking at some meat. I'm looking to network myself out in this industry so i can have an idea of how hard you'll tell me it is, so i can accomplish it. Thank you
thanks
Recruiting for a FT position at a BB, EB or even MM banks is going to be near impossible from that school having no previous IB experience. I would suggest networking with people at smaller boutique firms who have an interest in baseball so you can leverage your experience. After few years at a small boutique, try looking for positions at a more reputable bank. An alternative is getting a master's and recruiting from there. Good luck OP, and change your name lol
so a few things:
1. Make your account private ASAP, and delete all this self-identifying info (especially your username but probably just as easy to google anyway all the info you posted anyway)
2. Your pro career is temporarily on hold because of COVID so you want to pivot to IB...? I would honestly just wait to start playing ball rather than switch careers, especially to something like IB. You'll make way more money and have way more fun playing pro ball, and from there you can pivot to IB if you really want to (though I'm not sure why you would when you'd have way better opportunities to go after once you've had pro exp)
Look up the lifestyle of a minor league baseball player, they get no money and just statistically this guy probably wont make it past double A. His initial bonus was a shade under 100 k and I'm guessing probably running out.
To answer your question its probably best to apply to a Masters in finance program and go from there, it's not going to be easy but the fact that you outed yourself shows you probably are not best suited for this (attention to detail and all).
