The job prospect for MSF at UT-Dallas
Hello! I am a U.S citizen living in Seoul. Here is my background. GPA: 3.8 GMAT: 690 TOEFL: 109, I have* no* internship or any related experiences in the industry, which is one of my biggest weakness.
I am now applying to business schools for MSF program, but most them rejected my application, i think maybe this is because I do not have industrial experience.
My career goals is not too ambitious. I would like to work in governmental agency in the future, because it is much stable.
So I am now looking at UT Dallas MSF program, which is fine for not having industrial experiences. Did any one graduated from it?

I would like to learn about its placement. I heard that some employers came to UT Dallas regularly for recruiting. Could anybody provide me with the information of what kinds of the firms are?

How is the alumni networking? Is the JSOM Career Management Center dedicated to helping students?
I am very grateful for anyone providing information and suggestions. Thank you very much!
Hey jj1775917, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot...do any of these help:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Where did you apply? Which schools rejected you?
What is your background in math?
What is your career objective!
As far as I know. UTD has decent recognition in the Dallas market
Hello! perazziman! Thank you so much for your response.
I applied to TAMU, Vandy, UT Austin, Boston College, Illinois Urban Champaign and Maryland. They all already rejected me.
Here is my background in Math: Q for GMAT: 50, I have a solid background in Math. I got A in all of my undergrad courses such as statistics and calculus.
I plan to work as financial analyst. I am open to any kind of industries.
I know that UTD's b school ranking is high. But some people say that its placement for MSF is not so good. So I wonder whether it is worthwhile to spend money studying there. But now, it seems that I have few choices.
I’m guessing your Verbal / Reading scores were low. Have you thought of applying to more quantitative programs, such as Financial Engineering or Mathematical Finance etc?
Thanks! I guess maybe it is one of a reason. I only scored 33/51 for my verbal section.
I do look into some programs that is more quantitative, but computer programming is not my cup of tea. I only have basic knowledge in SAS and Visual Basic.
So I prefer to look for programs like MSF. Another possible reason is maybe I did not did well for the interview. Even though my first language is English, I have stayed in Korea for some time so the way I speak English also changed ......
Otherwise, your stats look good. So, unless you know what they wrote, you may also want to consider changing the people who gave you references
Thank you very much for your advice! That is also something important. But the thing is, it is 2019 now. I know that most schools have already ended their round 3 application. Will there still a chance for me to get into b school in round 4 or 5? I have heard that the chance of getting into will be smaller in round 3, 4, 5
No harm in trying, you are a US citizen so you can apply after the international deadline.
Where do you plan on working after the MSF?
Thank you! I plant to work in the US after completing MSF. Have you ever about Houston University' MSF? How is it?
Don’t know much about it. U of H is a an underutilized resource.
So compared to UH, UTD job's prospect is better?
Have you looked at SMU?
