The Pitchbook, An Investment Banking Novel

Hey everyone. As I've noted on my last few posts, I've been working on a fiction novel on investment banking for some time, and finally released it last week on Amazon. As of last night, the ebook edition is up as well. It takes Amazon over a week to get the chapter preview option working, and I'll post again when that becomes available. However, wanted to go ahead and post the link and back cover blurb. Part of what I'm going for is a more realistic view of banking rather than the Wolf of Wall Street style cliche portrayals. At the same time, the story is a John Grisham style fast-paced thriller. Hope you guys enjoy it.

The Pitchbook: A Banking Analyst's Tale of Markets, Millions, and Mayhem

"Hollywood promised Robert McClure an investment banking career filled with debauchery, and endless excess — but his reality turned out much different.

As the newest analyst at Latham, Schroeder, & Holt, Robert’s days are filled with a never-ending procession of long nights, Excel models, and PowerPoint pitchbooks. Mergers and acquisitions was his dream job in business school, but it soon turned into a soul-crushing grind.

When Robert finds a lost pitchbook from a competitor detailing an unannounced corporate acquisition, the gears in his mind start turning. The pitchbook might just be his way out and the key to the success he’s always dreamed about, or it might be a Pandora’s box of trouble. One thing is for certain — he’s got little to lose and a whole lot to gain — including the sense of self he lost, somewhere along the way."

EDIT: Weird gliche from Amazon but if you view the Kindle edition from your phone, you can already get a three chapter preview but that's super annoying. The real one should be up in a few days.

Likely marked as spam since it is a promotional post... Imagine if thousands of member's did this.. It's just not possible to keep an enjoyable community and allow posts like this (not because it's not great or relevant but because then it opens the floodgates)

I'm surprised the automated spam removal didn't remove it but looks like it did remove bumping on it.

I liked the transition from catching catfish to eating catfish. Some of the quips were good in the third chapter, I liked the banter overall. Not bad overall from what I read but not the type of thing that I would read I think. But that is okay I think, I think that everyone has different preferences in terms of writing style or types of books that they would like to read. This type of style of book is not something that I would typically read I think. I am a bit stingy in terms of not being interested in a lot of the stuff that I will try and read. I will pick books up and barely read then and then put them down. Maybe if this post was a Q&A it would have been more acceptable to promote something, or if you made another post that was a Q&A, not sure what Patrick would have to say about that just putting an idea out there cause it's cool that you wrote this and it's relevant and not happening every day, might be worth PM Patrick to see what he thinks on the Q&A side.

Thanks for having a read. And yes, it really depends on what you like reading. This is written for the John Grisham writing style audience. I know some people who read nothing but Grisham style thrillers and some who would never touch them. Glad you enjoyed that catfish transition. I try not to be too artsy with the book but where I can sneak it in while letting the story flow, I do it. FYI, have tried sending a PM to Patrick about the book several times and no response yet.

AMA is not a bad idea. I might do that in the future when the book is out there for a bit. I've also wanted to post a few chapters on here directly, but if you've ever read the Terms of Service agreement on WSO, it is not very good about copyrights for anything posted to the site.
