this might be an obvious question, but are final round cases harder than first round cases?
See the title. I'm asking because I have never passed a case interview until very recently, and I'm pretty scared because I know that firms do multiple cases to weed people out who just got lucky once.
See, I used to think the answer was a definite yes, but based on a number of interviews I've done the last few weeks (2 T2 and 1 MBB), my experience has been no. My cases were comparable in terms of type, length, difficulty, etc. to first round in almost every way.
However, I can tell you what WOULD make a final round harder. First, is if you get a less structured case. It was clear all of my interviewers had prompts/data/facilitation guides, but if a partner decides to go awol, that can make the case harder because it may be a weird situation and therefore harder to structure/know where to go next. Second, is if your interviewer decides to be a dick and start pressuring you to see how you react. Obviously, this makes casing harder. I feel like firms/HR has been trying to avoid these situations to make the process more fair/standardized.
Anyways, just my 2 cents based on my experiences, let's see if others have found the same thing.
