From development to Thor Equities - Any thoughts?
Hi guys,
Everything is in the title - I come to you today to learn more about the Thor Equities team in London. I heard they have a bad reputation in the US but their London office seems to have made interesting acquisitions/disposals last few years. They also have recruited ex-people from big pension funds, Blackstone/Goldman, and so on. Anyway, any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry I can’t help, as I know nothing about the London office. Yes, bad rep here in the states.
Hi, many thanks for replying. Why do they have such a bad reputation in the US? I'm afraid that if the HQ is bad, the European office can't shine as well.
There was a thread here a while back about Thor being shit, if I remember it was just them doing bad deals and having an even worse culture. I'll link to it https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/thor-equities-1
As I understand the company is all Joseph Sitt, so if the bad culture comes from him it's safe to say it permeates across the whole firm.
Wow, understood. It looks scary indeed. I might avoid them.
Cannot comment on the London operations but would highly advise against Sitt/Thor USA.
They got crushed on their high-street retail purchases and have pivoted to other “hot” asset classes like industrial and life science. Wouldn’t exactly refer to them as “smart money”.
On the flip side, Joe Sitt has an insane house in Deal with the other Syrians. Jeff Sutton’s may be nicer tho
Not sure if the Head of AM (who I believe handles all assets even International) is still there who has been there forever, but if this role is for AM and she is, then God bless you.
