Thoughts: Okay to remove GPA from resume once graduating undergrad?
I have heard mixed thoughts on this from senior people. Some seem to say they don't care about your GPA once you have interned at a firm/got the job...and it should not be included on your resume after you graduate...some say it should be included on your resume after you graduate? There is no requirement from the firm saying you need to list your GPA on your resume after you got the job.
This probably isn't that big of a deal but once you graduate should you just take your GPA off your resume and just list your degree and honors / cum laude/honors/deans list/societies whatever applicable etc... without the GPA?
Is it douchey or stupid if you leave it on?
Depends on the GPA, I think it is worth leaving on if you have a good GPA. After associate level, I think you kinda have to take it off.
e.g. if you just graduated and are going through group placement and your school has a system where 3.3-3.6 is "Cum Laude" and you have a 3.3 is it okay to just take if off and put "cum laude" ?
Schools that have a 3.3 Cum Laude are stupid. Talk about getting a participation trophy. But for you, that's probably in your best interest.
What kind of school do you go to where a 3.3 GPA is cum laude? That’s basically average or below average if your school has grade inflation
If it hasn’t been ~5 years, leave it on. People assume you’re hiding something otherwise.
You’ll be asked it in many processes anyways
Drop it after first few years/first job (especially if nothing amazing). Rarely asked after moving from first job (as long as your have some experience.. not leaving in 6 months to a year or so). Most don't care when you're a senior level associate/VP/etc... asked during interviews a couple times after ~6 yrs experience... but really only from a MF or similar interview... they apparently care somewhat. Honestly, shocked when they asked...
I’m getting MS but this is 100% the case for on-cycle, etc. No GPA = straight in their HH’s bin.
