Thoughts on a fund with a "disruptive innovation" theme?

Not looking to start such a fund, just wondering what exactly is right/wrong with the idea in theory and in practice.

Plenty of large cap tech stocks have gone up by healthy amounts that could justify a 2-20 (or maybe slightly less). Great way for a hedge or mutual fund to differentiate itself, especially if it publishes good research (marketing basically), seems to have a good well-researched investment theses.

I'm a novice to this, so would love to hear criticisms from experienced stock guys.
