Thoughts on ING Financial Institutions Capital Structuring & Advisory team?

any idea on reputation/deal flow/etc of this team? i found the description below but i've not actually followed this industry/company that much. 

am currently a corporate banker at a BB thinking about applying for this.


The Financial Institutions Capital Structuring & Advisory team within Financial Institutions is responsible for leading and co-ordinating M&A advisory work, capital structuring and debt & equity financing across a wide range of sectors encompassed by the financial services sectors. Recent market areas and transactions include:

  • Advising a financial consortium led by private equity firm TDR on its acquisition of LeasePlan, the world’s largest car leasing company
  • Advising Apollo on its acquisition of NKBM, the leading bank in Slovenia
  • Advising Tetragon Financial Group on its acquisition of Equitix, a specialist fund manager and developer focused on the UK infrastructure market
  • Advising Cinven on its acquisition of Old Mutual’s life insurance business in Germany and Austria plus the embedded value financing
  • Corporate Finance advice to Telenor on its acquisition of a Serbian Bank
  • Advising ING Group on disposal of ING Car Lease to BMW

Next to advisory the team focuses on bespoke structured finance and structured ALM solutions for insurance clients, designed to release regulatory capital and/or increase asset portfolio yields. Recent transactions include:

  • Innovative reserve financing structure for a for leading insurer in US, executed in derivative format, valued in multiple hundreds of millions USD
  • Acquisition financing deals for leading private equity sponsors in UK, Italy and Germany
  • Regulatory capital release deal for leading reinsurer in Canada, valued in multiple tens of millions CAD
  • Structured private placement of an infrastructure loan to a leading European insurer
  • A series of sizeable forward starting bond sales to a leading European insurer
  • Execution of a joint venture with a leading European insurer to provide financing into the Benelux midcap corporate sector
