Disgraceful. It's the epitome of greed for shit clubs who have fallen to the wayside to pretend that they're worthy of being in some exclusive league that they can't get relegated from. If you aren't top4 don't just grab your ball and leave, get better.

MS from delusional arsenal, United, and spurs fans incoming.

I am only interested in what happens if FIFA decides to ban major stars from the world cup.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Of course this is coming from an Arsenal fan you lot need it the most you’re fucking 10th place in the league and have no chance of touching any real silverware as long as you employ that fraud Arteta. Wouldn’t be surprised if the participants of the super league break off again and create a new super league in a couple years without frauds like you or Spurs in it after you inevitably finish last every single season

-Arsene Wenger

It’ll raise the level of football played that’s for sure.

I don’t think it’s a good thing for the integrity of the sport but I also don’t think there is anything fair about how the Champions League/Europa currently works.

Obviously positive for clubs in the super league, but it’ll fuck clubs like Sevilla, Ajax, Porto, etc.

I’m all for it. I love football but I don’t watch it because I don’t care about Real Madrid vs Levante/Chelsea vs Fulham-type games. A super league is much better entertainment and also makes more sense economically

There's this thing that already exists called the Champions League. Pretty much exactly what you're describing. Last week, Chelsea played Atlético Madrid, PSG played Bayern, and Man City played Dortmund. Crazy, I know, but I promise it's real!

they probably thought this ESL could become the football version of NBA/MLB - but that only works when the sport has one country that's clearly better than the rest of the world (aka USA for basketball) but football's too decentralized for that lol

be ashamed of yourself. its not even about the big vs small club games, this whole super league thing takes away the competitiveness of football - its basically gatekeeping so that the 12 clubs will never get relegated. and if anything takes away accountability of club management e.g. arsenal wont be held accountable for being absolutely dogshit and missing out on continential qualification cuz sUPeR LeaGUe

also LOLed at raising entertainment/competitiveness - if you're playing man city/juve/etc every week ur gonna have to rotate ur lineups regardless - nothing will change and takes away the allure of the marquee matchups - e.g. wtf is the point of el clasico if it happens 12 times a year?

Americans should stay the fuck away from European football. The only reason this "Super League'' would ever become reality is money. That's it.

It'll not raise the level of football at all. Not at all. Each club gets €200-€300m per year, but they won't ever be relegated from the league. Aka those clubs have zero incentive to up their game. They'll be excluded from the Champions League, the national competitions, and the players possible won't be allowed to represent their countries on European and World Championships. If anything, these clubs are digging their own grave. It's criminal.

Absolutely sh$t idea only motivated by $$$$.

Basically frauds that can't even make it to the Champion's aka Arsenal/ManU/Tottenham/Inter/Milan are looking to join an "elite league".

What a shame. I hope that there will be a massive boycott. If you remove uncertainty and competitiveness from football, it's gone.

The dumbest idea to come out of football in the last 10 years, maybe more. This is going to get boring so quickly.

Ah cool, so we're having Chelsea vs. Barcelona tomorrow. Wait, didn't we have that 2 weeks ago? And 3 weeks before that?

There's a reason that the Champion's League is played only once a year and the World Cup every four years.

RM fan here, think this is a great move by Florentino (Madrid's president). Problem with modern football is that 16 yos have lots of alternatives. For gods sake, I can't even watch a whole LaLiga game or group phase UCL game without getting bored. These clubs just did a simple LBO and broke up with a useless middleman (UEFA):

1. Loaded up on debt (€3bn) to fix covid damages, clean up balance sheets (Florentino saving Barça from bankruptcy xd).

2. Financed it with JP at 2-3 % over 23 years.

3. Will repay with new TV rights along the lines of  streaming games on Twitch for genz, yearly series on each team on Netflix.

4. If the biggest 12 teams are on it, Bayern, PSG, Borussia will play the SuperLeague eventually.

5. More competitive and entertaining games get you closer to 4bn viewers, skyrocket revenues.

Super league won’t happen. What (I think) will happen is uefa will broker a deal with the ‘top’ teams and renegotiate things like tv rights. It’s happened before and will happen again.

Absolutely terrible move and like an above poster said the English teams have already backed out. No doubt the other teams will follow suit this week. Honestly, it was a smart enough move by all involved. If it goes through, the teams involved make absurd amounts of money. On the chance it falls apart, the clubs can just issue half-hearted apologies and face zero repercussion. Btw, Super League was a terrible idea. All the finance bros here love the money it could make, but it’s totally against the ethos of the sport.
