Tier 3 consulting salaries? Culture?
I am thinking about making the switch to consulting from banking. I have a few interviews...all based out of NYC. These seem to be small consulting firms. All less than 20 people probably. I am well aware salaries and culture vary firm to firm. I was looking to hear from people that work in these type of firms. Also how much do you travel as well?
Didn't you just start in IB?
I mean I started more than a year ago. I am just looking at options. Better lifestyle, better culture.
There's going to be enough variability from 20-person firm to 20-person firm that it feels like the discussion isn't really worth having... the culture in a 20-person firm will be however the boss wants it to be.
Wasn't aware a tier 3 existed.
You ever consider tier 5? I've heard bad things about tiers 3 and 4
Im sorry, I am a banker so I am new to consulting terminology. I just picked up tier 3 from this forum. I assumed it meant the smallest consulting firms. The only consulting term I know is MBB.
What names do you consider Tier 3? Why not try for a Tier 2 firm( Deloitte, Accenture etc)?
"Smallest consulting firms" would be called "boutiques", just like investment banks.
