Tiger Cub / Elite SM L/S Recruiting at GSB

What is recruiting like for top L/S SM HFs at GSB?

I am looking for any GSB specific detail beyond simply an overview of the steps of looking for an HF job from business school (e.g., networking, pitching, etc.)

Thank you in advance.

Know of one guy who went IB > PE > GSB > Tiger so there's a single data point haha.

My inclination is to say that if you weren't the type of person funds were looking for before B-school, that won't magically change but it also won't close any doors. Take a look at top AM analyst positions tho; very high comp with much less career risk and they recruit mostly MBAs.

If ur at a MF why not just recruit right into SMHF— no need for GSB imo

Sure maybe you make more income for 2 years in your 20’s and avoid b-school costs, but you might also have a higher likelihood to burn out and leave finance sooner than if you’d had a 2 year break to enjoy and accomplish the things in your personal life that you couldn’t do while working 70+ hours per week. Longevity in this industry is more important than 2 years of mid-level comp

I'd think rep is smart in the tech industry - their name really blew up because of that 8b Snowflake realization. Also they were a 7b or so fund until that realization which is likely why they flew under radar for quite a bit.

Commentary on Tigeresque is a similar investment coverage of publics / privates in tech with very low headcount to AuM.  No commentary on returns / process which is a bit out of my element though based on their AUM inflows assume its extremely well respected.

You definitely need to be top IB/MBB + top PE for these roles.

What about ER -> GSB, could that lead to SM HF ops? I know a few people each year from ER get into HSW
