Tired of people complaining/seeking affirmation for recruiting

Stop posting to the tune of “am I fucked for recruiting?”. You should know going in that successfully recruiting for IB takes a lot of failure. I fell flat on my face many many times just like people told me I would. If I look back to my recruiting efforts when I first decided to go into banking, I was a dumbass who didn’t know up from down or left from right in the world of banking. Your life isn’t over if you don’t get an offer from one superday.

You’re wasting your time by seeking approval for your recruiting efforts from WSO members. You could have mastered a technical topic in the time it took for you to type the post so you don’t tell me that net income is closed to the cash account on the BS. If you’re banking material, you’ll land an offer - and if you’re not put your head down and grind until you are.

This and all the diversity posting bullshit. Focus on the grind, and you'll (probably) get an offer if you're qualified. It's hard work, and I made so many mistakes during recruiting before landing an offer. But you'll get better with more practice - better at technical, better at networking, better at interviews. If you have legitimate questions, ask away, this forum is very helpful, but don't whine here for SBs and self validation. Keep your head down, work hard, and shut the fuck up.

As an Asian male in IB, this is exactly what my parents instilled in me… turned out pretty well, I guess?

corpfin lol

thx for the ms @ the kelley kids who couldn't make IBW

You sound like someone who thinks their Ivy League eduction is enough to be an effective banker. Quite the contrary, it only gets you in. I’ve seen countless icy league kids go to evermore center view etc and hate their lives so much they quit because they are so broken. If you make judgements generally regarding schools, I wouldn’t like you but I am biased. It is somewhat normal to play the prestige game with big name ivies but honestly they lost their prestige when they stopped mandating SAT scores at certain schools literally those degrees like cal Berkeley do not differentiate those kids whatsoever anymore literally all you have to do is be black or say you identify as black and that you are gay and transgender and you get into pretty much Columbia NYU and those in between schools who couldn’t afford to lose any of their credibility but certainly destroyed it over the past year. This is my opinion. A degreee from many of these ivy leagues has been incredibly diluted by the far left movement

To be fair you are right but your comment gives the impression that it is somewhat up to random chance whether the offer os made. Kids need to know especially non targets that they need to walk in and force these people to hire them because they are so damn competent so as to justify the risk of hiring a non target. Although target universities are losing a lot of their heretofore prestige on wall street especially at the mba associate level; no one wants the mba kid from NYU; they’d rather find a third year lateral or or associate from another investment bank or even an accounting related transaction advisory job because the kids graduating simply lack work ethic

Some nontargets make recruiting their entire life, so they can't help but not shut up when they somehow land something

I made in my entire life but when I look at these kids who feel compelled to write about it, I want to fucking shoot someone in the face. They probably shouldn’t have been hired and I know that simply because they are the type of kids that write about it prematurely when they really haven’t achieved anything yet other than an offfer which can vanish very fast

To add to this- even if you have a low gpa or come from a school no one's heard of, there's no point in asking if you're fucked. There's stories on here of people breaking in with a sub-3.0 gpa, and of true nontargets breaking in. Are you really going to throw in the towel on your career bc some prestige whore on wso told you you need to have a 3.8+ from an ivy?? If you do, you never truly wanted it anyway.  You're only fucked if you decide you are. Go make something happen.
