To Internship or Not?
After the summer I will attend LSE to do a master in financial statistics. I chose this course because I like the theoretical side of statistics, but I do not see myself working as a theoretical stats boy.
In the last few years I got interested in RX because of Petition11 and Moyers' book. So my hope is the eventually land a RX internship in London. I am currently talking to one of the Big4 offices for internship in their RX division during coming summer. (I know that Big4 RX is slightly different than IB RX.)
Now here is the thing. I would rather backpack in Asia/South-America this summer than do an internship. (Seriously, who wouldn't want that?) So the question is: should I go for this internship at the Big4 or does the LSE brand name give enough edge to past the cv-screening rounds to get an internship?
Note that I do not have any relevant working experience but I do have a rather different profile. Oh and I don't need to maximize the chance to land a prestigious EB RX job.
Cheers!
Dude you can go backpacking later tbh. You'll probably have time between your masters end and whatever FT job you end up pursuing unless you're lucky enough that your FT job starts in September. Take the internship (not that you even have it yet).
You absolutely need to do an internship
