Too many degrees?
I am currently a rising sophomore, non-target top 50 UG, and am interested in investment banking. I am majoring in math and finance and also am going to do a 4+1 in accounting (masters program). I was thinking of going for an MFE after that, but is that overkill? Should I just apply for an analyst position and then get an MBA later?
Why would you get an MBA later if you're already going to be in the industry?
Too much school you need a break, slow down.
From what I've read here, people will get an MBA after a few years. It seems to help you to move up the chain or break into FO (I think).
Man, I remember when I was a freshman!
All kidding aside, you still have 3 years of undergrad left, maybe more if you want to do that 4+1 program. I would focus on making sure your GPA stays up. Aim for at least a 3.7+ and start networking for internships.
Narrower window applying for analyst spots vs. applying to grad school. You can always do an analyst stint and then go back to grad school.
Have some fun too.
thanks
At the absolute most minor in math. I have yet to see a reason to get a masters in accounting unless you want to become a cpa and need the credit hours.
I switched from pre-med, so I am kind of paranoid about job security when it comes to IBanking. My logic, that could be wrong, is that it provides me a masters degree(which hopefully gives me a leg up), gives me an extra year for internships, provides me one guarantees accounting internship, and almost guarantees me a job at a big 4 accounting firm if IB doesn't work out.
