Top IPO deal experience for PE
If an analyst worked on very high-profile IPOs or other non-M&A/LBO deals (GM's IPO, for example) will the fact that it was so high-profile help them in PE/HF interviews even though the experience isn't really relevant?

I think if you're on a coverage team, high-profile IPO's are also relevant. Bottom line is, you understand (to an extent) industry dynamics and how to value a company.

but why doesn't it add value to the extent that PE firms often exit through IPOs?
I would think that, when PE firms exit through IPOs, they would hire an IB to handle it for them, thus not needing someone with only an analyst's level of experience on an IPO
